for God loves a cheerful giver.
-2 Cor 9:7
A grateful heart wants to give back to God a portion of what He has given us; which, in reality, is already His. Giving our tithes and offerings shows that He is first in our lives.
It is also a reminder for us that God is the provider of everything we have.
